About Midwest Taekwondo Academy
Midwest Taekwondo Academy was started in December of 2012 in Westfield, Indiana, by Kristin and Eric Waterman. Mr. And Mrs. Waterman both work full time jobs and this school is not their “bread and butter.” They teach simply for the love of taekwondo. Both of them have over 20 years in the art each and come from very opposite backgrounds (from very strict to very laid back) and came together in a middle ground when they formed this school.
Midwest Taekwondo Academy prides itself on being a very family-oriented, positive environment where the students have fun, gain self confidence, learn respect and discipline, develope good relationships, face and overcome obstacles, learn life skills, and yet are still taught the core of the traditional art of Taekwondo.
The classes are small, which allows more time with each student. Everyone is encouraged to attend a free class or two hefore signing up, and we NEVER do any contracts.
For those who wish to compete, there are multiple competitions MTA goes to throughout the year. Mr. and Mrs. Waterman spent many years competing on the local and national level, and their students do consistantly well at competitions.
Midwest Taekwondo Academy has been referred to by its students and parents as a family, not just a martial arts school. If you are looking for a place for yourself or your kids, talk with the parents whenever you visit schools. And please come visit us for your free trial class!
Mr. and Mrs. Waterman started their school purely for the love of Taekwondo. They both work full time jobs aside from teaching Taekwondo, which is why they are able to offer classes at a lower rate than average. This is also why there are not classes available ever day during the week. They both have a high standard for everyone, however, they understand that ever student is an individual and learns at their own pace. They tailor everyone’s experience in their training to what each individual wants to get out of Taekwondo. Some students want to go to the Olympics some day, and some just do it for exercise for health, while others are learning for self defense. In their short time running their school they already have trained multiple state champions, along with national champions. They pride themselves on having a program that teaches the core tenants of Taekwondo, along with making sure each person is enjoying their training and progressing.
